This basic nature of
deserts will not change in the forseeable future.
However, global climate change, coupled with
increased population pressure, particularly in the
desert margins, montane areas and wetlands, is
likely to affect the more productive desert areas
and pose some new and significant threats to
biodiversity and sensitive endemic species.
The most important changes will be induced by increasing human pressure of various kinds: increasing population, both in rural and urban contexts, continuing oil developments, and larger numbers of ambitious water developments.
Many scientists have predicted that in the future, if the deserts around the world are preserved well, the deserts will change from dry dusty areas to a green vegetation area. This is all due to global warming and all the rainfall that is due to come in the future. However if the deserts aren't preserved well they will stay the same.
